"Torniamo in casa GoDown oggi per parlare dei veneti T.H.U.M.B. al loro terzo lavoro, un’impresa di ben 12 tracce che esplora il vasto ventaglio delle sfaccettature rock.

Sono infatti frequenti e ben distribuiti i riff stoner, con quel sound blueseggiante e le distorsioni tendenti al fuzz, come in Bigfoot, traccia contenente tutti gli ingredienti prospettati dal titolo dell’album; la successiva Monstergods, di vago stampo kyussiano; ancora Inconsistence, che tende a strizzare l’occhio più ai QOSTA e più avanti Road Song.

Non ci si fa mancare, inoltre, quel lato un po’ più acustico e decisamente country/folk, grazie a Lived Namow, una ricreata esibizione live dove il nostro musicista apre la porta e zittisce una folla chiassosa col suo blues mezzo sbronzo, oltre a East Clintwood, dall’intro decisamente western, i cui toni vengono fatti perfettamente sposare anche all’interno del pezzo stesso, per quanto decisamente stoner.

La mia impressione, poi, è che l’influenza del rock di stampo anni 90 (panorama di Seattle) abbia influito decisivamente – e chi non ne è stato influenzato? – sulle abilità compositive del trio, nel quale milita orgogliosamente alla batteria la biondissima Liz. Dove mi è parso di sentire questa particolarità? In pezzi come, ad esempio, la strumentale Pietrosaurusoppure la traccia di chiusura Stonebridge Deluxe – solo per citare quelle che mostrano più esplicitamente questo tipo di influenza.

Arriviamo ora agli echoes menzionati nel titolo, raccontandovi il lato psichedelico del trio, che è ben evidenziato alla conclusione di Superlover, ad esempio, oppure sul cominciare e sul finire di Into The Deepest Green (chi ha orecchie per intendere…), anche se devo dire che anche Wear It Out non scherza da questo punto di vista.

Due note particolari: in positivo al penultimo pezzo, Reaching The Afterglow, a mio parere il meglio riuscito di tutti, in negativo al basso volume dedicato alla batteria, che pare appena accennata sotto le imponenti distorsioni di chitarra…peccato!

Ma insomma, il messaggio resta comunque chiaro: Thumb Up a questo trio!"
