Review on STAGE III
A punto de cumplir trece años en activo, el trio italiano de Stoner Rock T.H.U.M.B. van camino de convertirse en unos jóvenes veteranos, que pueden presumir de haber tocado con alguna de las bandas más internacionales y reconocidas del género como Los Natas o Alabama Thunderpussy, por citar solo un par de ejemplos. No fueron muy prolíficos en todo este tiempo ya que, hasta ahora, dos son las grabaciones que preceden al trabajo que hoy os presento (Overloaded Rock´n Roll y Lunar Flight). Por si os interesan, ambos están en libre descarga pinchando sobre el título de los mismos.
Con "Primordial Echoes For Modern Bigfoots" podría aplicarse esa máxima que dice que a la tercera va la vencida, y no faltaríamos a la razón, porque T.H.U.M.B. se destapan aquí con una docena de canciones que fácilmente superan a su anterior Ep y disco debut. En cuanto a estilo no han variado demasiado, pero sí sacan mucho mejor sonido gracias a una producción muy cuidada, en la que destacaría sobre todo esas guitarras llenas de fuzz, que por momentos recuerdan a Nebula o Fu Manchu. Cuesta más acostumbrarse a las partes vocales, no tan extraordinarias, pero acaba uno pillándoles el punto y tarareando algunos estribillos que se pegan como lapas. El surtido de variedades incluye: buenos arreglos con armónicas y guitarras acústicas ("Lived Namow"), ruidos ambientales y pasajes de space rock ("Into The Deepest Green"), cortes con giros inesperados (la muy ocurrente "East Clintwood"), y también canciones instrumentales tan duras como una roca del paleolítico (la primitiva "Pietrosaurus").

En definitiva, muy buen disco de Stoner Rock recomendable para aquellos que tengan la oreja curtida y estén cansados de escuchar siempre lo mismo. T.H.U.M.B. respetan las bases del género, pero sin cerrarse en banda, con un pie en el pasado y mirando al futuro, de paso que amplían sus propios horizontes con imaginación y Tutta forza. Escuchad la llamada del Bigfoot!!!

The Italian trio T.H.U.M.B graced our ears with their 2003 Overloaded Rock ’N’ Roll EP and the 2004 follow up Lunar Flight. Nine heavy eclectic songs that varied not only in style but also in quality. With their first full-sized album Primordial Echoes For Modern Bigfoots they celebrate their tenth year anniversary and keep the variations in music they bombarded us with eight years ago but improve every bit of their ability and storm the gates to claim their rightful place on the stage of heaviness. They show their aptitude in writing, composition and above all daring to not change a winning riff or chug. Sometimes we hear lumbering beasts and animals dragging themselves to their death only to be treated to some folk picnic or a space age soar towards distant planets. Which in turn are molested and destroyed by wrecking ball riffs and tattooed fists. Blazing, almost tornado like drums and hurricane bass. After searching for the right words to really describe this giant I reckon we should go with apocalyptically good. This is what happens when you push the right buttons!
